Nine-year-old Karo grows up with her parents in an Amsterdam commune in the Seventies. She leads a carefree existence in this utopia-for-adults. Everything is shared in the squat, but not everyone is able to honor these ideals. Karo gets confused because of the internal conflicts that start to divide the group. Karo slowly realizes that nothing can stay the same forever.

Carlos, Daniel and Luis, three friends who make a trip through Africa, arrive in Tangier and reflect on the last years lived by each one of them. Carlos, shot down by the suicide of his wife, lives locked up in his bar, while Luis has become the Chief of Police and Daniel is an expert smuggler. Between the two a logical confrontation arises that, with the mediation of Carlos, does not reach greater evils. The situation is further complicated when Carlos meets a fifteen-year-old girl with whom he falls in love, not knowing that she is related to the most powerful landowner in the region, who also traffics in weapons.
