The 9-year-old Bernadette, called "Benni", is considered aggressive and unpredictable. Nobody is allowed to touch their faces due to traumatic experiences in their earliest childhood. She is permanently suspended by the special school and she can not afford it for long in any foster family or residential group. As a so-called "System Sprenger" she threatens to fall through all the rasters of German child and youth welfare. Benni longs to live with her mother again.
